Q&A: What are the small cars with high hip points?

Hey Sally, Having recently suffered a hip injury, I really relate to this conundrum! When looking at ease of access in cars, a key stat is the 'hip point', which refers to the distance from the outside ground, or the floor of the car, to the driver's 'hip' – the point at which the torso meets the upper leg.

2021 Mercedes-Benz EQA spied

The Mercedes-Benz EQA SUV has been spied charging in a German garage, revealing hints of its GLA-derived design. The all-electric crossover will be built on Mercedes-Benz's MFA II platform, and is expected to offer an electric range around 482km when it launches in 2021. As with the EQC and GLC, the EQA appears to share its basic silhouette with the GLA – at least, if our recent prototype drive is a guide – but will likely differentiate itself with unique trim and lighting elements.

2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA recalled

Mercedes-Benz has recalled a trio of 2018 GLA crossovers, over concerns about the rear central top tether. According to the company, the top tether anchorage point at the centre of the rear seat bench could be concealed. If it is, owners won't be able to attach a child restraint. Only three cars are included in the campaign – a VIN list is attached here.
