2016-20 Maserati Ghibli, Levante recalled

Maserati Australia has issued a recall for the 2016 to 2020 model-year Ghibli sedan and Levante SUV over concerns models fitted with LED headlights could have faulty parts. The Italian marque reports "due to a factory fault, the full LED headlights setting may not be assembled correctly". Should the condition occur, "the full LED headlights setting may beam excessively high light towards oncoming vehicles, increasing the risk of an accident for oncoming vehicles".

Maserati Levante was almost a Jeep Grand Cherokee with bling

If it wasn't for a ballsy intervention by FCA boss Sergio Marchionne, Maserati's first SUV would have been based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Levante development had commenced on the Grand Cherokee platform, with over a year of progress before work was halted. Director of Maserati's global markets, Umberto Cini, told CarAdvice that while there were always plans for a Maserati SUV to sit alongside the Ghibli and Quattroporte, it was originally slated to be an FCA Group heavy platform share.
