2021 Maserati Alfieri to debut at Geneva next year

A concept previewing the Maserati Alfieri coupe will make its debut at the 2020 Geneva motor show, the company has confirmed. Harald Wester, head of Maserati, told Autocar the Alfieri won't enter production until 2021 or 2022, though. Wester claims this is because the company is working on updates to its existing volume-selling models, the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, and the Levante crossover.

Maserati CEO sees future with second SUV, cold on autonomous driving

Reid Bigland, head of both Alfa Romeo and Maserati, outlined some thoughts about future product for both luxury brands. The Canadian executive sat down for an wide-ranging interview with Auto Motor und Sport, and discussed everything from sales figures and upcoming vehicles to technology. Bigland talked up Maserati's impressive sales growth over the past few years, with the brand jumping from around 6200 sales in 2012 to roughly 42,000 in 2016. Above and top: Maserati Levante.

Maserati boss rules out electric models: hybrids coming, but hydrogen the future

Harald Wester, CEO of Fiat Chrysler’s revitalised Maserati brand, believes the future of green motoring lies in hybrids first, and hydrogen fuel cells later. Speaking with American magazine Motor Trend, Wester derided the weight of electric vehicle battery packs, throwing shade at the likes of Tesla’s Model S and the BMW i3. “What the hell do you want with 400kg of battery driving around? No,” he said.
