Audi, Tesla, MG score top marks in ANCAP testing, Hyundai Venue falls short

ANCAP has awarded the Tesla Model X, Audi A7 and Q8, and the MG HS five stars in its latest round of crash tests, but the Hyundai Venue city SUV fell short. The independent safety body called the all-electric Tesla Model X the "standout performer" among the five cars tested, record-equalling scores for adult occupant protection and safety assist. Meanwhile, the Audi A7 and Q8 demonstrated "good performance in all assessment areas".

Hyundai Venue: 4-star ANCAP rating expected

Toyota HiLux gets updated five-star safety rating

The Toyota HiLux has become the first ute in Australia to earn a 2019 five-star safety rating, following a new round of tests against more stringent criteria. The rating is an update to its previous five-star score – from 2015 – and puts a spotlight on rival utes with older ratings that could confuse consumers who may be unaware that not all five-star scores are created equally.

2019 Toyota Corolla scores five-star ANCAP rating

The new-generation Toyota Corolla has been awarded a five-star safety rating by independent crash-testing authority ANCAP. Australia's most popular passenger car scored 96 per cent for adult occupant protection, 83 per cent for child occupant protection, 86 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 76 per cent for safety assist.
