Volkswagen ID. R sets Goodwood Hillclimb record

Volkswagen's all-electric ID. R has smashed the record time up the Goodwood Hillclimb, cutting 1.7 seconds from the time set by Nick Heidfeld in a 1998 McLaren Formula 1 car. Driven by Romain Dumas, the ID. R is the first car ever to complete the climb in less than 40 seconds. The hillclimb record comes after the ID. R set a new marker for electric cars around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, knocking 40 seconds from the existing EV record.

Lexus confirms LC Convertible for production, local arm ‘very keen’

Lexus has confirmed it will produce the LC Convertible, debuting a camouflaged pre-production prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Timing and specification of the LC Convertible is still yet to be announced, though we’d say the new model isn’t far off. “It will broaden the LC line-up and bring a sense of a completeness to the brand's flagship models,” the company said in its press release.

The most obvious change we can see from the shadowy preview image is the addition of a large rear wing, and a roof-mounted air intake. More than this we don't know, as Ford has yet to provide any details about the car.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 spied at the 'Ring

Photographers have snapped a largely uncamouflaged Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 prototype once again, this time doing laps at the famed Nurburgring circuit in Germany. In these latest images it appears the vehicle is pretty much production ready, with the only bits missing being the badging at both ends. This vehicle also appears to be using the base-spec headlights, though we reckon they'd be swapped out for Porsche's flagship LED units with quad-cube signature for production.
