2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 unveiled

Ford has unveiled the Mustang Shelby GT500 at the 2019 Detroit motor show, finally un-caging the meanest, maddest production pony (or should that be snake?) ever to grace public roads. The Shelby GT500 is powered by a hand-built 5.2-litre V8 engine with a 2.65-litre Roots-type supercharger nestled within the vee. Said to crank out roughly 522kW of power, or 700hp in the old money, Ford is billing the GT500 as the most powerful road-legal Mustang ever.

2019 Shelby GT500 teased again

The upcoming 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has been teased again, this time in a single overhead image revealing some of the new model's exterior details. Finished in bright blue with contrasting white stripes, we can see the GT500's massive fixed carbon-fibre rear wing and large bonnet vent which nearly stretches the length of the 'hood'. It also looks like the bonnet vents form part of a power bulge.

1967 Ford Mustang: Gone in 60 Seconds' "Eleanor" for sale

The original 1967 Ford Mustang hero car used in the film Gone in 60 Seconds, dubbed "Eleanor", will go under the hammer at an upcoming US auction. Though several cars were built by Cinema Vehicle Services – with assistance from car designer Chip Foose – for the 2000-released movie, Lot S135 at Mecum’s Spring Classic auction is serial number 7RO20179710, the actual “Eleanor” car driven by Nicolas Cage in the cult car film.
