2021 Ford Bronco patents hint at removable doors

The Ford Bronco could be available with removable doors, as well as minimalist tubular doors. Patent filings uncovered by AutoGuide show Ford is working on ways of incorporating side airbags into tubular doors (above) with the inflation mechanism mounted well away from the doors themselves. Ford has also submitted a number of designs to improve side impact protection when the car's doors are removed completely.

The person stated on a Reddit Ask Me Anything session that the new Bronco "will be very similar to the current Ford Everest" and will have four passenger doors, unlike earlier Bronco models, which had two.

Ford promises four new SUVs by 2020, could the Bronco be one of them?

Ford has pledged to launch four new nameplates into its global SUV line-up, in segments it doesn’t presently cover, by 2020. Some suggest this might mean an imminent return for the Ford Bronco. The company’s announcement, made at the recent Chicago motor show, reflects an increasingly accepted industry consensus that SUV sales will continue to boom, and be the main choice of buyers at diverse ends of the age spectrum.
