Ford Fiesta ST gets 165kW Mountune upgrade

Tuning firm Mountune has announced a new upgrade package for the Ford Fiesta ST, which can be installed via a smartphone app. Dubbed m225, the flash tune bumps the three-cylinder hot hatch's outputs up to 165kW and 340Nm, up from the standard version's 147kW and 290Nm. Mountune claims the upgrade drops the Fiesta ST's 0-100 time to "below the 6 second mark", and shaves a full second from the 31-62mph (50-100km/h) in-gear acceleration claim.

2018 Suzuki Swift Sport pricing and specs

The third-generation Suzuki Swift Sport has arrived in Australia, priced at $25,490 before on-road costs — $2200 cheaper than the VW Polo GTI and $3500 less than the Renault Clio RS 200. The new Japanese pocket rocket picks up a new turbocharged engine shared in large part with the Vitara SUV. The 1.4 ‘Boosterjet’ unit makes 103kW of power and a much meatier 230Nm of torque between 2500 and 3000rpm. Fuel use is 6.1L/100km.

Ford Fiesta ST specification upgrades ruled out for Australia

Europe will receive a revised, better-equipped version of the Ford Fiesta ST hot-hatch, but the changes won't flow through to Australia. The Ford Fiesta ST 3 model has been launched in select European markets, bringing additional equipment such as satellite navigation and digital radio reception at a small premium - but the company's local arm has informed CarAdvice that no such changes will be offered here because the brand wants its hot-hatch to remain the sharpest priced of its peers.

Ford Fiesta ST: hottest, fastest Fiesta unveiled

The Ford Fiesta ST will go on sale in Australia in around 18 months' time, giving the blue oval a flagship hot hatch to rival the Volkswagen Polo GTI and the Suzuki Swift Sport. The production version of the Fiesta ST has been revealed in Geneva in three-door form for the first time. The racy light hatch will hit the European market in 2013, and is set to land down under around mid to late 2013.
