Mercedes-Benz G-Class, GLE get 5-star ANCAP ratings

ANCAP has awarded the new-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class and GLE five-star safety ratings in the latest round of scoring, based on tests conducted by sister firm Euro NCAP. While both recorded adult occupant protection scores of at least 90 per cent (90 per cent G-Class, 91 per cent GLE) the GLE managed the highest child occupant protection score recorded to date, with 92 per cent.

CR-V, G-Class, Tarraco score five stars in Euro NCAP testing

Euro NCAP has released the latest round of safety ratings this week, with the new Honda CR-V, Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Seat Tarraco all scoring top marks. All three vehicles were tested against the firm's latest 2019 criteria, each achieving at least 90 per cent for adult occupant protection and 80 per cent for child occupants. In particular, the Seat managed an impressive 97 per cent for adult occupant protection, which Euro NCAP says is amongst the best score in this category.

Fiat Panda gets zero-star Euro NCAP safety rating

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has been dealt another blow in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash tests, with the 2018 Fiat Panda failing to score even a one-star rating. Last tested in 2011, the third-generation Panda lacks any form of active safety equipment – with seatbelt reminders the only feature to score points in the area Safety Assist.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class headlines latest five-star ANCAP ratings

Independent crash-testing ANCAP has released its latest set of safety ratings this week, with the BMW X2, Jaguar E-Pace, Mercedes-Benz X-Class and Volkswagen Polo all receiving five-star safety ratings. Headlining ANCAP's release is the X-Class's standard inclusion of autonomous emergency braking – a first for the ute segment in Australia. Meanwhile, the littlest Volkswagen offered in Australia scored an impressive 96 per cent for adult occupant protection.

Mazda CX-5, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet score five-star ANCAP rating

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet have been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by ANCAP this week, while the Kia Picanto micro car only managed four. Scoring 36.48 out of 38 for adult occupant protection (95 per cent), the CX-5 performed well in physical tests and comes with all three (City, Interurban, Pedestrian) levels of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) as standard equipment.
