Rimac to acquire Bugatti marque from Volkswagen Group – report

The Volkswagen Group could be set to offload the Bugatti marque to Rimac, according to reports out of Europe. As reported by Car Magazine, the prestigious French performance brand – which Volkswagen purchased in 1998 – will be acquired by the Croatian electric sports car specialist. In return, it's believed Rimac will give Volkswagen unrestricted access to its all-electric platform.

Ducati not for sale, says Volkswagen - report

Ducati is staying under the Volkswagen Group umbrella - at least that’s according to a report by Bloomberg, which cites ongoing opposition from the German company's powerful labour unions as the reason why the motorcycle company's ‘for sale’ sign has been temporarily removed. The move prompted several or more bidders, including Italy’s Benetton family, US automotive firm Polaris Industries, and Ducati’s former owner Italian company Investindustrial to express dismay in the process.

Volkswagen Group won't sell brands to cover Dieselgate costs

The chairman of the Volkswagen Group has denied the company is planning to sell off some of its brands to help pay for costs related to the Dieselgate emissions cheating saga. According to Reuters, Hans Dieter Poetsch, chairman of Volkswagen's supervisory board, has told Boersen-Zeitung that the company is "not thinking of selling parts of our brands".

DucAudi: Germans take reins of Italian stallion

Less than one week after CarAdvice reported the imminent purchase of Ducati by Audi, the German brand has successfully acquired its third Italian maque to sit alongside Lamborghini and Italdesign, with the purchase being approved on Wednesday. While a price for the transaction has not been revealed, Reuters' sources have suggested the deal cost Audi about 860 million euros ($1.08 billion).
