BMW 5 Series ute for sale

A BMW 5 Series ute conversion has been listed on Ebay for $US30,000 (approximately $AU41,700). Unfortunately for Australian ute lovers however, it's left-hand drive and happens to be located in the Russian city of Kursk. And shipping isn’t included in the price. According to the listing, the 2000 BMW E39 530d is in “excellent condition,” and has leather seats, a leather multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and a trip computer.

BMW invests in Prometheus Fuels, carbon-neutral petrol

German carmaker BMW and its sister brand Mini have invested $USD12.5 million into a US company that produces synthetic petrol and diesel made via carbon capturing. The venture capital arm of BMW and Mini, called BMW i Ventures, invested in a start-up called Prometheus Fuels, which claims it will be selling carbon-neutral fuel by the end of this year. While the technology to convert carbon emissions back into fuel was already available, the costs to do so were prohibitively expensive.

2020 BMW M340d xDrive revealed, 'no plans' for Australia

BMW will expand into diesel for its sub-M 3 Series range, with the reveal of the M340d xDrive ahead of its in-person debut at the Geneva motor show. Sitting alongside the M340i xDrive, the M340d is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six engine augmented by a 48V mild-hybrid system. At least, it will be in Europe – BMW says there are "no plans" to bring it Down Under. It promises 250kW, down just 35kW on its petrol stablemate, but packs a whopping 700Nm – 200Nm more than the petrol can manage.
