2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe revealed, here early 2020
BMW has revealed the first-ever 2 Series Gran Coupe in full, ahead of its arrival in the first quarter of 2020.
Based on the same front- and all-wheel drive platform as the Mini line-up and the new 1 Series hatchback, the 2 Series Gran Coupe is aimed at the Mercedes-Benz CLA and A-Class sedans. That means a coupe-ish roofline and four frameless doors, in an attempt to walk the line between style and substance.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been spied again, this time strutting its stuff in Germany.
Although this prototype is wearing a similar level of camouflage to the vehicles spied earlier this year, our spy agency got up close and personal this time around.
These test cars still have some false body panels around the sides, but are wearing production-ready exhaust tips, headlights, and tail-lights for the first time.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe coming with M2 flagship - report
The next-generation BMW 2 Series range will reportedly stick to its rear-wheel-drive roots, and will also spawn a new four- or five-door body style.
Insiders have told Autocar that BMW will replace the two-door 2 Series range in 2020, and that the new coupe and convertible may be preceded in 2019 by a new sports sedan variant to be known as the 2 Series Gran Coupe.
