2021 HiPhi X swaps-out door handles for facial recognition, gets split butterfly rear doors

The 2021 HiPhi X SUV has been revealed, and it will use facial recognition to open its doors. Chinese electric vehicle developer HiPhi has announced that its upcoming SUV will not have door handles – instead it will feature a completely automated touch-free entry system. According to the manufacturer, occupants of the all-new HiPhi X will be able enter the car using either facial recognition technology, a smart key, or their smartphone.

Jaguar XFL revealed for chauffeur-driven Chinese market

The Chinese market's obsession with rear comfort continues, with Jaguar unveiling its stretched XF sedan for the Beijing motor show, called the XFL. As with many models of its type, the XFL is largely identical to the standard XF, with the exception of the increased length and stretched rear doors. Developed exclusively for China, the long wheelbase XFL features 157mm more legroom and 116mm more kneeroom than the standard wheelbase XF.

Acura CDX compact SUV revealed ahead of Beijing motor show

Images of a new compact SUV expected to be known as the Acura CDX, have surfaced online ahead of a planned Beijing motor show unveiling this week. The so-called CDX takes a number of its styling cues from the recently-facelifted Acura MDX, showing a similar swooping roofline and the distinctive diamond grille that was designed for the MDX to introduce a much more sporty and aggressive demeanor.

BMW Vision Future Luxury concept revealed

The BMW Vision Future Luxury concept may have a long name now, but a production version of this sleek four-door coupe-style limousine is expected to be brandished with the 9 Series badge prior to 2017. The new BMW super limo has been revealed at the 2014 Beijing auto show, and is said to “furnish a long-term outlook on the perception of modern luxury for the BMW brand”.

BMW 9 Series rumoured to debut at Beijing auto show

Rumour has it that a big automotive player is about to show off a huge new model at the 2014 Beijing auto show: get set for the BMW 9 Series concept. German magazine Auto Motor Und Sport claims the Bavarian brand will reveal the new model as a design study at the Chinese show later this month, and that the car will be built upon the next-generation 7 Series underpinnings.
