2018 Audi RS4 Avant takes on the Nordschleife - video

The SUV craze has diminished the public's appetite for wagons, but a few holdouts still offer properly hot load-luggers. BMW has axed the M3 Estate, but Audi has carried on its tradition for practical performance with the latest RS4. Power comes from a twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 pumping out 331kW and 600Nm, hooked up to a quattro all-wheel drive system. It'll hit 100km/h in a claimed 4.1 seconds, and keeps pulling through to 280km/h with the right options boxes ticked. Not slow by any measure.

2018 Audi RS4: Initial details revealed

Preliminary Australian details for the 2018 Audi RS4 have been revealed this week, ahead of the new model's launch in April next year. Expected to cost in the "mid-$150,000" bracket before on-road costs, the wagon-only RS4 will feature a higher level of specification than the previous generation, with items like the RS sports exhaust, Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), and the rear sports differential to be included as standard.
