BMW to add wireless Android Auto from mid-2020

Android Auto is coming to BMW vehicles from July 2020, but availability will be limited a small number of phone models. A BMW spokesperson confirmed only the wireless form of Android Auto will be offered, meaning BMW's implementation is only compatible, at this stage, with a small selection of high-end Android phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 to S10+, Note 8 to 10, and the Google Pixel range.

Google Maps adds EV charging stations, live ETA sharing on iOS

Google Maps users are now able to search for EV (electric vehicle) charging stations, as part of the popular app’s latest update. Along with the locations of charging stations, users are able to see the type and number of charging ports available at the location, as well as charging speeds.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come to Ford Sync 3, Fiat Chrysler UConnect

The list of carmakers offering connectivity with the new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto infotainment platforms has grown again, with Ford and Fiat Chrysler both making major announcements at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. For Ford, the move marks an anticipated upgrade to its new Sync 3 system, which was revealed last year and is locked in for an Australian launch sometime next year.
