I’ve had my RAM for two months and I love it!
There are plenty of plusses. Power for towing is awesome. I regularly tow a four-tonne boat and it barely registers on the RAM . The all coil suspension is stiff enough to stop sag in the rear when towing but still soft enough to give a good ride around town.
My truck was converted by Walkinshaw Special Vehicles and it’s a good conversion. I had a Ford F-250 7.3-litre power stroke chipped previously. I was happy with the way it towed, but then I drove the RAM. It’s a fantastic hauler and tourer.
The usability in the back with fold up seats and then flat flooring is a handy set-up for fridges or storing anything else that needs a flat base to sit on. And the stereo is awesome! The connectivity from your iPhone is great, it connects as soon as you enter the vehicle and you can access voice recognition and request music, phone calls and iMessages all without taking your eyes off the road. The built-in mapping in the Walkinshaw trucks is Australia/NZ compatible and is easy to use.
The cabin is nicely set up and the driver’s functions are well laid out.
One minor issue I have is that the fuel door doesn’t lock. And the two plastic plugs that serve as a fuel cap pretty pathetic. You can buy after-market lockable doors but you shouldn’t have to with that sort of price tag.
Once I’ve fitted a long range tank for the touring we do over here in the west, I am set and I am definitely a big Dodge RAM fan.
