2016 Holden Insignia VXR review
This is my daily driver. I have a 20km commute, mainly in peak hour, and the majority of time spend on the freeway. It averages 12.5L/100km.
- Handling
- Front Recaro seats
- Lots of standard features
- Auto transmission is a bit crap
I agree with the pros that have reviewed the car about the auto gearbox, it's not the best. To get the most out of it, you simply leave it in manual mode and change whenever you want to.
The overall performance is really good once you get going. My weekend car is a turbo German V8, and to be honest I don't see much difference in performance in traffic, but an open stretch of road is a different story.
The fit and finish are well above average. The front Recaro seats are awesome, but of course no iPad holders for rear kiddies as there's nothing to connect it to. So far after 6600km, I'm really happy with it.
I've had V8 Holdens in the past, both a VE and WM, and this is a much better car than either of them. The VFII was what I tested when purchasing, and for me, I found the Insignia was more of a complete package. No, not as quick, but that's what the weekend car is for.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this car to anyone who wants a medium-sized sports sedan.
Well done Holden for putting the badges on, and well done Opel for building a great car.
The only bugbear for me is the auto transmission (until you get going), which is easily solved by putting it in manual mode.
