2015 Ford Mondeo Trend TdCi Review
This car is astonishing!
- Fuel economy , Driver aides , Ease of use, Safety features, Stylish
- No digital speedo, Warning bings and bongs, Auto high beam not brilliant, Floor mats small and don't cover the whole floor
We opted for the wagon due to family requirements and therefore ended up with the 2.0L 4cyl diesel. With 136kw of power and 400nm of torque, the power is incredible. It accelerates quickly and very smooth with the 6 speed automatic transmission yet delivers us 6.1L/100km average with town and highway driving! Long trips on the freeway we have seen 5.4L/100km with 6.7L/100 when the car has been loaded up around town with stop start driving.
The cabin is spacious with great seats and enough room for 4 adults and the ambient lighting adds that touch of luxury. The isofix points for a child seat make the car very appealing and the airbags in rear seat belts are very comfortable and not as imposing as we thought they may have been. The technology of the trend is quite remarkable with adaptive cruise, lane keeping, pre collision alert and many more driver aides and we have found Ford SYNC system voice control to work brilliantly.
So what are the downsides you ask?
We found the automatic high/low beam wasn't quite ready for some roads and could be problematic and that the lack of digital speedo, whist technically not necessary, I feel would complete the car. The floor mats (carpet front mats are free with the car but we opted for the set of 4 rubber mats) don't really cover the floor, just the small part directly under your fee. The dings, bongs, and beeps for the door open or car on etc, whilst are necessary for some people and loved by my wife, drive me crazy!
The features of this car I found are second to none. My wife chose this car based on the styling of the outside and the ease of use in the cabin. The ride is amazingly smooth and sticks to the corners brilliantly for a front wheel drive wagon.
With a few minor tweaks for the car nut that I am, it would be 10/10, but for John or Jane citizen (my wife for example) it is already perfect!
