2014 Mazda 6 Atenza Review
I took delivery of my new Mazda in late November 2014, I have since done 4500km in mostly city driving with three country trips.
- Performance, Economy, Handling, Safety, Looks
- Expensive to buy, Shallow boot, At this price scuff plates should be standard
I have been averaging around 6L/100KM around town, with the best that I have seen to date is 5.8L/100KM on a highway trip to Sydney and back. I am surprised how little difference there has been in the fuel economy between city driving and country cruising, though I do cruise at approximately 115km/h on the open road which is considerably quicker than would I would be doing around town.
Also with only 4500km on the odo I am expecting better economy as I cover more clicks. The transmission and engine have been a standout, world class in fact.
I have driven many European cars with the Turbo Diesel engines and this one is right up there if not better, the six speed auto transmission is the best that I have driven, by far.
The cars handling is first class, no complaints with the ride either. The comfort and features in the cabin are very good, the infotainment system is easy to use and of good quality.
The finish inside and out is very good, I have yet to find any faults with the materials or finish. The boot is huge, though a little shallow for some. The looks of the car certainly turns heads, many younger folk comment on the looks when ever I park it at the shops or get fuel.
So far so good with reliability, nothing to report. With the performance and comfort of this vehicle as well as 1000km per tank around town, I am a happy owner.
