2006 Subaru Forester XS Review
We have been using Subaru's since 2008, and our last Forester only had 3 or so issues in the last 7 years that we owned it, while the 2006 has had no issues for the last year, which is brilliant. Our Forester currently has done only over 130,000 km which was fairly rare to find. We were looking at a 2006 XT Forester that had done 115,000 km but we didn't like the silver at all, despite everything else being perfect.
- Performance, Handling, Style, Transmission, Colour Choices (went with black with beige cloth)
- Fuel Economy, Elec. Throttle Control
I like basically everything in the Forester, besides the fuel economy, which according to Redbook is 9.3L/100km (on average). I don't believe that is completely true, even though it does depend on how you drive the car. There is also the Electronic Throttle Control which, when you release the throttle, accelerates the car for another second before slowing down, which could be scary but it's something to get used to.
Overall, turbo or non-turbo, this car is a fantastic car and I do recommend Subaru's to anybody who is after a reliable and smart-looking car that has off-road capabilities. Originally we were looking for a turbo but it was so hard to find the perfect one, so we stepped down to the XS, and that's where we are today.
