2006 Ford Falcon: owner review
The Ford Falcon XT EuroSport was different from a taxi in one key area - the refinement offered by that amazing ZF 6 speed auto which did an amazing job transforming the Falcon into a refined and capable tourer. When you add to that the Eurosport's suspension upgrades, which firmed up the suspension and gave more precision and control to the damping without making the ride harsh, then add the attractive 17" alloys and the DSC (stability control) and you have a winner. What made the shortlived EuroSport package all the more attractive was the price of just $250 over the list of the base XT - a bargain in anyone's language! Interestingly, I’ve heard this was an error and it was supposed to be $1,250 but slipped through the cracks due to an oversight. One let down was the standard XT upholstery material, the side bolsters of which seemed to be purchased from a leftover lint removal company as it did a superb job at catching every piece of lint or fur from your clothing and leaving it on the aforementioned side bolsters! As a pet owner, I curse that particular feature regularly! In my car's case, it runs on dual fuel, dealer fitted LPG which is flawless - you can't pick it. It is both economical, environmentally friendly and powerful. It has been very reliable, needed only basic maintenance and is easy to work on. As a former European car driver, it puts a smile on my face on challenging roads, yet few cars are more at home in the big, wide land we call home.
- Superb ZF 6 speed auto, stability control calibration, handling, overall running costs
- Lint cleaner upholstery material!
