2003 Honda CR-V (4×4) Sport review
I bought this vehicle in December of 2017 from a friend of mine, and it has been one of my favourite Hondas after owning various vehicles since obtaining my licence all those many years ago. My very first car was a Honda Scamp with its two-stroke engine, which was very reliable and very cheap to run. But the body of the car rusted, yet the rest of the car just kept on going.
- Luxury
- Performance
- Safety
- Fuel tank is too small
So, I've had quite a few different cars over the years, and when this Honda CR-V came onto the market, I was made redundant from my job, so my dream car went out the window. That was until my good friend was selling his 2003 Honda MY03 CR-V LX Sports vehicle, which I snapped up very quickly.
This Honda is a vehicle before its time, with all the luxury items and more safety features than I know what to do with. It's super quiet, with outstanding performance, and is really a fun, reliable car to drive no matter where you want to go.
Upon purchase it had 250,000km on the speedo, and I've since travelled an extra 7000km around Victoria and interstate, both on the freeway and off-road, with no problems at all. I find that although you sit up a little higher than most vehicles, you also have the security and comfort of most vehicles on the road today.
I am very impressed with this vehicle in more ways than one, and it will be my vehicle for a very long time.
The engine is a very responsive 2.4-litre four-cylinder with four-speed automatic transmission. The 4WD drivetrain is a real extra bargain, as you drive in front-wheel drive and the rear-wheel differential gives you that extra bit of push as you go around corners or off the road.
No matter what people have told me about how it's not a true 4WD, it gets me from point A to point B without any real problems, and I am very happy with it from head to toe.
