Unfortunately, the legendary and ubiquitous Aussie V8 ute has been assigned to the history books for some time now. Those wanting one will be trawling through second-handers instead of showroom floors, as the market has pivoted towards the 4X4 ute. One option is a tuned Holden Colorado by engineering outfit Harrop, who call their car the 'Superado'...

What if we were to tell you there's a place two hours' north of Sydney that you can play, fish, surf, jetski and camp? Come with Dom Wiseman on a trip to one of Australia's most pristine beaches: Blacksmiths Beach in a Holden Colorado Z71.
Despite it struggling to stand out of the crowd, the Holden Colorado Z71 presents a good argument for a ute purchase; priced from $54,990, it is packed full of safety tech, creature comforts and even rugged additions like Grey metallic wheels and Stage 1 Underbody protection. Here are five things you should know about the Holden Colorado Z71.

The Colorado may not be brand-spanking new anymore, but it remains a solid, competitive ute with a good warranty and a grunty donk. There’s no real weaknesses in the lineup or details, with good performance on-road and off-road. There's decent tech and comfort on offer, and the value proposition has improved slightly with the MY2020 changes.
Holden has announced five new accessory packs set for its hard-working Colorado ute: the Tradie pack, the Black pack, the Farmer packs (in light- and heavy-duty forms), the Rig pack and the Xtreme pack. Here, Dom walks you through the offerings.
Adam Morris: The goal for Holden’s engineering team was for the heavily accessorised Xtreme to feel and drive like it wasn’t. And it has succeeded. The Xtreme doesn’t feel heavy or cumbersome to drive in the way some aftermarket accessorised 4WDs can, and as previously mentioned, besides the extra wind noise above 60km/h, on road, there is very little difference between the standard Z71 and the Xtreme...
Dual-cab utes are expected to be more versatile today than ever before. Rough and tough is not enough. The flagship versions must be comfortable inside, safe, and look the part because people want show ponies as well as workhorses. Our team have tested eight key contenders (LDV wouldn't give us a T60, and the X-Class hadn't launched in time for this test), to see how they all stack up...
Read the full review here There are work utes – you know, the single-cab budget-focused models aimed at tradies specifically – and there are lifestyle utes, those that cost $60,000 to $70,000 that are more often seen with a dude in a suit driving them rather than a bloke in overalls...
