A Note from the Editor: A stock image has been supplied with this review. As a researcher of the usual overpriced cars on the market, I came across an article on the Great Wall in 2013. Subsequently, I bought a 2011 X240 4WD wagon with 40,000km on the clock and a year warranty left on it for $11,000...
I have owned 2 Great Walls, a 2011 and now a 2014 Dual-Cab ute. Both were 2WD models with 2.0-litre turbo diesels. I bought these as tradie utes mainly based on price, as I had no intention of paying $35k plus for a work ute. I can honestly say that these Great Walls are just fantastic, ultra reliable, and damn good on the highway...
"One of the Great Cars of China" The Great Wall has been in the Family for five years now, bought with 230km on the clock as a demo model. It is fantastic. Being one of the first models imported from China, it has the elegant flowing lines that personally I find the models prior to the facelift somewhat more endearing as it is definitely more of a head turner and always a good conversation starter...
The X200 is my wife's car and we are both very happy with it. Now that it has 25,000km on the odometer, the suspension has lost its harshness, the motor has loosened up, the seats have softened and become more comfortable and it has become a very pleasant vehicle to drive especially with the automatic. The fuel consumption is constantly 9.2 to 9...
Overall very impressed. Have had this car since late January, 2013 and so far have driven to Albany and Geraldton (from Mandurah, Western Australia). The car travels very well and has lots of features. You can even watch DVDs. It's great with fuel, (we filled up in Geraldton ant 500km later in Mandurah, still had more than 1/4 of a tank) and is very comfortable...
I bought x240 -2010. I like the car - comfortable well designed lots space -HOWEVER- it does lack power. AND I HAD AN ELECTRONIC CORROSION CONTROL AND THE CAR HAS RUST IN DRIVERS DOOR AND RUST UNDER BONNET -- very disappointed in a new car that doesnt go near a beach. So if you have a great wall - check the bloody thing !!!!
As a recent buyer of a Great Wall X240 (second hand) I was looking for a good value car that is capable of seating a growing family with space for the stuff needed for camping trips. The Great Wall may not be big enough to be seen from space but it delivers plenty of room for 4 adult passengers. Specs are good for the price with full leather interior, sunroof (on my model), AC, Goodyear tyres...
