The company once responsible for Australia’s hottest Commodores, HSV, has cemented itself as a centre of excellence for re-engineered left-hand drive products, and has now added the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pick-up to its range. The dual-cab Silverado ute was one of the top-selling trucks in the United States for 2019, just behind the Ford F-Series and the Ram pickup...
Holden Special Vehicles says it is “business as usual” as US car giant General Motors negotiates the shutdown of Holden dealers across the country following the shock closure of the brand. As the company prepares to launch its latest model, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pick-up (pictured below), early indications are that Holden’s performance-car partner HSV will continue to operate in Australia but under a new name: General Motors Specialised Vehicles (GMSV)...
It was late 2014 and General Motors was about to wheel out one of the most important prototypes in the company’s history, deep inside one of its top secret US test tracks. One of the first running examples of a hand-built mid-engine Corvette prototype was about to do a shakedown run – hidden underneath what from a distance was supposed to look like a Holden Commodore ute...
The high-tech Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck will arrive in Australia next month, as Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) prepares to take on the strong-selling Ram 1500. HSV today confirmed the Silverado, which is converted to right-hand drive alongside the Chevrolet Camaro muscle car in Clayton, has been certified for Australia and New Zealand...
EXCLUSIVE: One of America’s biggest-selling pick-ups – the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – is just weeks away from arriving in Holden showrooms. An eagle-eyed CarAdvice reader has caught on camera one of the first examples to hit Australian roads. The photos appear to have been taken right outside the Holden Special Vehicles production facility in Melbourne...
General Motors has confirmed its first-ever electric pickup truck will officially be known as the GMC Hummer EV. The automaker also revealed the new Hummer will be available with a 746kW (1000hp) and 15,590Nm electric power system. Although it isn't specified, that torque figure is likely a slightly misleading 'wheel torque' number instead of a true 'engine torque' output...
This week you are joined by Mandy Turner, Josh Dowling, and James Ward. We cover many car news topics, including how the Ford Mustang R-Spec has sold out, the first C8 Corvette selling for USD$3 million, Honda warning 33,000 Takata-affected owners to "stop driving immediately", General Motors unveiling its first autonomous car, and how currency pressure is poised to push up the cost of cars this year...
The first 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 has sold at auction for US$3 million (AUD$4.34 million). That's a massive $2.92 million more than the North American RRP of USD$74,995 (AUD$109,000) for the C8 bearing VIN 001. Australian pricing for the new Corvette is yet to be announced, but last month Holden teased us with a photo of a car being tested at its engineering facility in Lang Lang south-east of Melbourne, ahead of its scheduled showroom arrival next year...
Supercars are tested to extremes before they make it to showrooms, but this probably isn’t what General Motors had in mind when two engineers took a pair of yet-to-be-released Corvette C8s for a late night blast through the middle of the week...
