Spyker C8 Preliator Spyder unveiled with new Koenigsegg V8 engine

The Spyker C8 Preliator Spyder and a Koenigsegg-designed-and-built V8 engine were unveiled at the 2017 Geneva motor show. The new Spyker C8 Preliator Spyder has a carbon-fibre body, semi-automatic soft-top with a manually operated centre latch, a leather-laden interior, and a gesture controlled head-up display. Riding on 19-inch mirror-finish alloy wheels and a Lotus-developed suspension setup, the C8 Preliator Spyder has 235/35 tyres up front and 295/35 rubber at the rear.

Spyker officially declared bankrupt, put into receivership

A Dutch court has officially declared car maker Spyker bankrupt after the company failed to receive an anticipated bridging loan. The specialty car maker applied for bankruptcy protection earlier this month and had hoped to secure funding so that it could pay its employees and creditors, as well as continue development of its "entry-level" B6 Venator coupe (below) and spyder.

Spyker B6 Venator Spyder concept teased

The Spyker B6 Venator Spyder concept is set to make its world debut at this week's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California. The Spyder is set to feature an identical aluminium chassis, carbonfibre body panels and six-speed automatic transmission to the rear-wheel-drive, 275kW V6-powered Spyker B6 Venator coupe that was unveiled at this year's Geneva motor show.

Saab secures 150 million euro investment from Hawtai

Chinese automobile manufacturer Hawtai has announced it will invest 150 million euro ($205 million) into Spyker Cars (owner of Saab) as part of a deal that will see the Chinese company take a 29.9 percent stake in the Swedish brand. The funds will help Saab restart production at its plant in Trolhattan, Sweden.

Spyker Cars finalise Saab purchase with $24 million payment

Spyker Cars has payed GM the last installment of the 400 million-dollar purchase price of Saab Automobile AB. The last payment of $24 million was due on July 15, but Spyker chose to make the payment two weeks early without resorting to an external loan.
