Great Wall ute pricing puts Ssangyong in the firing line

Great Wall is talking a big game with its new ute, boldly claiming it'll sit with the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger as a top-three selling mid-sized ute globally, but its pricing Down Under will be a closer match for the Ssangyong Musso. The mid-range 'Passenger' version of the as-yet unnamed ute will be priced at around $35,000 with an automatic transmission, diesel, and four-wheel drive according to Haval Australia managing director, Koma Li.

Timing hasn't been confirmed, but Haval Australia's managing director Koma Li says Great Wall will take the as-yet unnamed electric pickup despite of our market's reticence to adopt battery-powered vehicles.

It was a phrase later turned to summarise the company's frequent crises and revolving door management changes. In recent years trouble peaked with the unravelling of Dany Bahar's grandiose plans, announced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, to launch no fewer than seven all-new models.
