SAIC Motor takes over MG in New Zealand

SAIC Motor has announced it will be taking over the distribution of its MG subsidiary in New Zealand from British Motor Distributors. As part of the move, the company will introduce the MG3 automatic hatchback and ZS crossover to the New Zealand market later this year, joining the existing MG6 Plus, MG3 manual and GS SUV.

2019 MG 3 pricing and specs

MG has revealed pricing and specs for the facelifted 3 range, headlined by the addition of an automatic transmission and a new media system with smartphone mirroring. The range will start with the MG 3 Core, priced from $15,990 drive-away. Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine making 82kW and 150Nm, hooked up to a four-speed automatic transmission. Claimed fuel use is 6.7L/100km on the combined cycle.

2018 MG 3 facelift here in Q3 2018

The updated 2018 MG 3 range has been scheduled for a third-quarter arrival in Australia, the company has told CarAdvice this week. A firm date is yet to be confirmed, but the new MG 3 will get a significant update inside and out, likely mirroring the changes seen in its home market of China (pictured).

2018 LDV D90: Petrol power, sharp pricing for Australia

Initial details for the 2018 LDV D90 have been released this week ahead of the new Chinese SUV's local launch later this year. Measuring just over five metres long and around two metres wide, the D90 will take on the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento, along with other large seven-seat SUVs including the Mazda CX-9 and Toyota Kluger when it arrives in local showrooms in late September.

MG promising five-star safety despite GS SUV's four-star ANCAP result
