VFACTS: Chinese brands continue to rise

Despite the continued decline in overall new car sales, brands from China are posting triple-digit growth – namely Haval and MG. For the month of July the overall market slid 2.8 per cent, with the year-to-date figure 7.7 per cent down on the first seven months of 2018. However, SUV specialist Haval recorded a 164.2 per cent increase on July 2018 (albeit off a low base) to 140 registrations, while its YTD tally of 783 vehicles is up 155 per cent on the same period last year.

2016-18 MG ZS recalled - UPDATE

SAIC Motor has issued a recall for the 2016-18 ZS over concerns about a potential software fault in the Stability Control System (SCS). UPDATE, 21/11/18: This recall has been expanded. See article for details and an updated VIN list link The Chinese manufacturer reports affected vehicles could see their stability control fail, decreasing power steering assistance. If the condition occurs, the steering feel will become quite heavy, and pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.

2019 MG 3 pricing and specs

MG has revealed pricing and specs for the facelifted 3 range, headlined by the addition of an automatic transmission and a new media system with smartphone mirroring. The range will start with the MG 3 Core, priced from $15,990 drive-away. Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine making 82kW and 150Nm, hooked up to a four-speed automatic transmission. Claimed fuel use is 6.7L/100km on the combined cycle.
