How Australia's love of V8s and utes has revived local automotive skills

Australia’s love of V8s and utes is reviving jobs and skills that many feared would be lost forever. Local car manufacturing died two years ago, but from the ashes a new industry has emerged. 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 engine details revealed

Power and torque figures for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 have been confirmed ahead of the car's release later this year. Under the bonnet is a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 with 567kW (760hp) of power and 847Nm of torque. That's significantly more than the 522kW (700hp) or so the company promised when it unveiled the GT500 at this year's Detroit motor show. In January, Ford said the GT500 would also feature a carbon-fibre driveshaft and a seven-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission.

We all had a good laugh about the possibility of it crashing on the big stage, with the world's motoring enthusiasts watching online. Remember that? It was a fun time... Turns out all that laughing and joking was kind of accurate. We're not going to spoil the ending, but suffice to say the Siemens team behind the 1965 Mustang project aren't likely to enjoy watching the footage below.
