Mahindra to unload SsangYong – report

Indian car maker Mahindra is looking to unload its 75 per cent share of SsangYong – South Korea’s fourth-largest vehicle producer – amid declining profits during the global coronavirus pandemic. “SsangYong needs a new investor. We are working with the company to see if we can secure investment,” Mahindra’s managing director Pawan Kumar Goenka told Automotive News Europe.

Mahindra PikUp gets capped-price servicing

Mahindra has announced capped-price servicing for PikUp utes, as it looks to further improve its value proposition. The first five services will now cost a maximum of $2296, provided the car is serviced on time within the Mahindra dealer network. The new capped-price servicing applies to vehicles purchased since January 2018.

Automobili Pininfarina to launch electric hypercar in 2020

Under the aegis of parent Mahindra, Pininfarina, the famed automotive design and engineering studio, has confirmed that it will launch its own electric car brand. Its first car will be a hypercar due to go on sale in 2020. Mahindra says Automobili Pininfarina will be based in Europe, and will "design, engineer and manufacture high technology, extreme performance, luxury electric vehicles for the most discerning global customers".

2018 Mahindra XUV500 pricing and specs

Pricing and specifications for the updated 2018 Mahindra XUV500 range have been revealed this week, with the seven-seat SUV kicking off at $25,990 drive-away – $4000 cheaper than before. Available in two grades, the revised XUV500 now gets a 2.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, making 103kW of power and 320Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed Aisin-sourced automatic transmission as standard - replacing the previous model's turbo diesel.
