Lexus Australia hybrid sales on a roll

The local arm of Japanese luxury carmaker, Lexus, is riding the crest of a hybrid wave, with its range of electrified vehicles accounting for around 30 per cent of local sales. And while Lexus has confirmed its first all-electric vehicle, the crossover UX300e with 400km of range, will go on sale in China and Europe this year, it’s unlikely to make its way Down Under anytime soon.

Lexus LC F project suspended, but new twin-turbo V8 lives on – report

Development of the Lexus LC F sportscar has reportedly been suspended, according to Japanese website Car Sensor. The flagship Lexus coupe was expected to launch in late 2020 with a twin-turbo V8, with some rumours suggesting the car would be all-wheel-drive. On June 22, Toyota announced it would be gradually slowing its Japanese assembly lines, blaming COVID-19 for shrinking sales and dwindling factory output.

2021 Lexus LC confirmed for Australia, convertible arriving this year

Lexus has confirmed its updated 2021 model-year LC Coupe is due in Australian showrooms this June – with the long-awaited LC convertible to join the lineup by the end of 2020. Pricing for the 5.0-litre V8 LC500 Coupe (351kW/540Nm) and 3.5-litre V6 hybrid LC500h Coupe (264kW/348Nm) will be announced closer to its June release. The cost of the V8-only LC500 Convertible will be announced in late 2020.
