2021 Jaguar XJ mule spied

An engineering mule for the next-generation Jaguar XJ has been spied during cold weather testing in northern Europe. Given this mule uses panels from the current XF sedan, it doesn't provide us with a look at the final design of the new XJ, but we can tease out a few details about the new range-topping sedan. Thanks the XF-derived body panels, we can see the new XJ is a larger vehicle with a longer wheelbase and a wider track. It also features a faster roof line and a long bonnet.

Jaguar Land Rover buys off-road specialists Bowler

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has bought Bowler, the boffins behind some of the world's wildest Land Rover Defenders. Bowler has been around since 1965, and specialises in creating cars for the rough-and-tumble world of rally raid. Its cars are built in low volumes, powered by either V6 turbo-diesel or supercharged V6 petrol engines. It was the supplier for the one-make Defender Challenge that ran between 2014 and 2016, too. Land Rover has been working with the company since 2012.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Motors’s holding company Tata Sons Ltd, told Bloomberg that Jaguar Land Rover isn’t for sale, pushing back on reports the Indian conglomerate was planning on selling the British brands.

Jaguar F-Type: Next generation may be mid-engined, inspired by C-X75

Jaguar's outgoing head of design has laid out his vision for the next-generation Jaguar F-Type. Speaking to Autocar, Ian Callum revealed he laid down his preferred blueprint for new F-Type with his successor, Julian Thomson, before he left the company. This would see the next F-Type switch to a mid-engined layout or an electric drivetrain, and have styling inspired by the C-X75 show car.
