We are joined by Nic Thomas, the global director of EV for Nissan. He's a Briton based in Japan who's visiting Australia for the Leaf’s local launch. CA: For those out there who aren't completely across the plan, how many electric vehicles does Nissan plan to offer over the next few years around the globe, not specific to Australia's shores?

McLaren SUV ‘against brand ethos’

McLaren won't be trying to cash in on the SUV boom, seeing no way to deliver such a vehicle without compromising its promise of lightweight performance. Porsche broke the mould many years ago with the Cayenne, and now the likes of Lamborghini, Aston Martin and even Ferrari have followed suit with SUVs to feed voracious market demand. McLaren remains adamant it won't be lured by promise of profit from crossovers, though.

The long-awaited and comprehensively leaked 2018 Jeep Wrangler was finally revealed in November, but it'll be later this year before we see the latest generation of the iconic off-roader in Australian showrooms. When it lands, the 2018 JL Wrangler will have benefited from extensive testing in rugged central Australia, with international engineering heads John Adams and Bernie Trautmann basing themselves out of Alice Springs.
