Infiniti QX55 teased again

Infiniti invented the coupe crossover with the muscular FX/QX70, which it nicknamed the “Bionic Cheetah”. It’s been discontinued from overseas markets and will soon be withdrawn from Australia, but Infiniti has a new coupe crossover coming to fill the void, the QX55. The BMW X3-sized QX50 upon which the QX55 is based is a handsome, contemporary SUV but it lacks the visual dynamism of the outgoing QX70.

Infiniti design chief defects to Kia

Kia have appointed Karim Habib as senior vice president and the head of company's design centre. In his role as the head of the Kia Design Center in Namyang, South Korea, Habib will oversee the exterior and interior designs for all of the brand's vehicles. Habib will begin with the carmaker at the beginning of October, and will report to Luc Donckerwolke, chief design officer for the entire Hyundai Motor Group.

Just two weeks after the trademark registration for the Infiniti QX55 was picked up by a news outlet, the luxury automaker has handed out the first details about its new vehicle. To go with the announcement, Infiniti has released a sketch giving us a peek at the QX55's silhouette.

Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi signs autonomous car deal with Google

Waymo, Google's self-driving car unit, has signed a deal to commercialise autonomous vehicle services with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. According to the companies, this new agreement is "exclusive... for an initial period" and will see the partners "explore all aspects" of autonomous vehicle services in France and Japan, including passenger services and cargo delivery.

Fiat Chrysler and Renault in talks to revive merger - report

High-level discussions are reportedly taking place between Renault and Fiat Chrysler (FCA) aimed at reviving the merger between the two companies, and gaining the approval of Nissan, Renault's alliance partner. Three sources have told Reuters John Elkann, chairman of FCA, has had talks with Jean-Dominique Senard, Renault's chairman, and Thierry Bollore, the French automaker's CEO, about bringing the proposed merger between the two companies back to life.
