Chinese brands MG, LDV, Haval and Great Wall post record sales

Official sales figures compiled by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industry (FCAI) show Chinese brands LDV, Haval, MG and Great Wall sold a record number of new vehicles up to the end of November 2020, despite a shrinking car market due primarily to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Great Wall ute pricing puts Ssangyong in the firing line

Great Wall is talking a big game with its new ute, boldly claiming it'll sit with the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger as a top-three selling mid-sized ute globally, but its pricing Down Under will be a closer match for the Ssangyong Musso. The mid-range 'Passenger' version of the as-yet unnamed ute will be priced at around $35,000 with an automatic transmission, diesel, and four-wheel drive according to Haval Australia managing director, Koma Li.

Great Wall: New ute still 12-18 months away for Australia

Great Wall’s tougher new ute is ready for a full reveal next week, but it won’t be touching down in Australia until more than a year after launch. The new dual-cab, which will eventually take over from the Steed, will be offered in both ‘Urban’ and ‘Adventure’ guises when it launches. A pure-electric model with 500km of range will also be available, and Great Wall Australia has expressed interest in bringing it to our shores.
