The Volvo XC40 Electric is set to become the one of the first production cars to feature an infotainment system powered by the Android Automotive operating system (OS).

May 7, 2019: Android Auto, Google's smartphone mirroring system, has been given its first major makeover since it was introduced in 2015.
The key change is a revised navigation bar across the bottom of the screen, which will soon feature a home button on the left side, and notification and voice command buttons on the right.

Google Maps will now show whether your nearest electric charging point is occupied the USA and UK.
All users need to do is open the app on their phone, or the website on their desktop, and search for 'EV charging stations' for a live list of how many plugs are free at EVgo, SemaConnect and Chargemaster stations.

The news was announced at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June this year, but it's now officially available to users as part of the iOS12.0 update released alongside the new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Google's Waymo autonomous driving division have announced a long-term strategic partnership this week at the New York motor show.
The two companies will work together to design and engineer a driverless version of the Jaguar I-Pace, with 20,000 units forecast to join Waymo's self-driving fleet in its first two years of production.
