Waymo to produce autonomous cars in Detroit

Waymo has announced it will lease space at American Axle & Manufacturing's Holbrook Avenue factory, which was last used for axle production in 2012. "We've found the perfect facility in Detroit," John Krafcik, Waymo's CEO, told Automotive News. "We will partner with American Axle & Manufacturing to repurpose the existing facility, bringing a work force back to an area where jobs in the automotive industry were recently lost."

Arizonans attack self-driving Waymo vans at least 21 times

Self-driving vehicles being operated by Waymo, the autonomous driving division of Google, have been attacked or threatened at least 21 times since 2016. Incidents have included a resident waving a hand gun at a passing Waymo car, being run off the road, tyre slashing, being assaulted with rocks, and verbal abuse.

UPDATE: Mazda has today issued a press release that confirms this story, including the price of $494.98, for the retrofit installation of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into all models equipped with the MZD Connect infotainment system. The upgrade is available now, and all new MZD Connect-equipped models entering Australia will have the two platforms installed as standard. If you are buying a brand-new Mazda, we recommend you confirm with the dealer that CarPlay and Android will be included.

Google's Waymo teams up with Lyft on self-driving cars - report

Waymo, Google's self-driving vehicle division, and Lyft, the ride-sharing app, have agreed to work together on autonomous cars. Both companies have confirmed the deal to The New York Times, although details about the scope of the agreement have not yet been revealed. A Lyft spokeswoman told the newspaper, "Waymo holds today’s best self-driving technology, and collaborating with them will accelerate our shared vision of improving lives with the world’s best transportation".
