Foton returns to Australian market with Tunland, Sauvana, Aumark and CS2 van

Chinese brand Foton is back in Australia, with the brand kicking off its sales campaign with four models. Dropped from the Ateco Automotive portfolio earlier this year, Foton Motor Australia Ptd Ltd now operates from an address in Ashmore, Queensland, with a new website displaying its portfolio of products.

Foton Tunland with Carryboy Tradesman body units hit the road

The Foton Tunland ute can now be ordered with a full Carryboy Tradesman body unit, potentially making the Chinese light commercial more appealing to those after a cheap workhorse. Designed specifically to be fitted to the Tunland single and dual-cab chassis variants, the Carryboy body unit combines the accessibility of a drop-side tray with the security and weatherproofing of a canopy.

Foton Tunland recalled for jack labelling fix

The Foton Tunland ute has joined Holden’s Captiva SUVs in being recalled this week for a seemingly innocuous but potentially dangerous issue. Unlike the Captiva, however, which was recalled for a jack label that incorrectly defines a “safe working load”, the Tunland’s recall is due to a jack label that does not properly match the wording required by the the mandatory standard for vehicle jacks, AS/NZS 2693:2007.

Foton Tunland: Chinese ute updated for Oz

The Chinese-built Foton Tunland has been updated for 2014 with new technology, equipment, model designations and reduced driveaway pricing. Distributed locally by FAA Automotive Australia, the one-tonne dual cab Foton Tunland gains Bluetooth connectivity as standard equipment across the three-model range along with a new leather-wrapped steering wheel with phone and audio controls.

Chinese Foton ute not coming to Australia with WMC Group

The arrival of the Chinese-built Foton ute has been delayed indefinitely and potentially stopped altogether as the Sydney-based WMC Group has decided not to move forward with its import plans. The announcement comes less than four months after WMC initially revealed its plans to distribute the Foton ute, which, on paper at least, sounded like it had plenty of potential for our market.
