De Tomaso sold to Chinese company after Luxembourg investors fail to pay up - report

Famed Italian automotive marque De Tomaso has been sold for the second time in just over a month, this time to Chinese firm Consolidated Ideal Team Venture. In March we reported that De Tomaso had been sold to Swiss company L3 Holdings for 2 million euros ($2.8 million). L3 Holdings and its Luxembourg-based financial backers were chaired by Gerard Lopez, the current team principal of the Lotus Formula One team.

Video: De Tomaso Pantera spied leaving Modena factory

The video below gives us our first look at – and listen to – the all-new De Tomaso Pantera. The Pantera (which means ‘Panther’ in Italian) was a supercar of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and will become the halo car in the born-again De Tomaso range.There is no confirmation of the new Pantera’s power source, although it is likely to get a version of the high-performance V8 engine that will feature in the upcoming Deauville crossover, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

De Tomaso SLC at Geneva ahead of 2012 production

Italian sports car manufacturer De Tomaso will come out of hibernation at the Geneva Motor Show in March with the unveiling of an all-new luxury SUV destined for production in 2012. The De Tomaso SLC (Sport Luxury Car) is a large all-wheel drive crossover designed by famous Italian styling house Pininfarina. The brand’s new Chairman, former Lancia CEO, Gian Mario Rossignolo, told Automotive News he has plans to expand the range to include three models: the SLC, a luxury sedan and a coupe.
