GM sues Fiat Chrysler for bribing labour union

General Motors (GM) has filed a lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler (FCA), claiming the rival's bribery of officials from the United Auto Workers (UAW) union caused it serious financial damage. GM alleges FCA instigated a “multi-year pattern of corruption” to “undermine the integrity of the collective bargaining process and cause GM substantial damages".

American GM workers strike

Around 49,000 workers at General Motors plants across the United States have gone on strike after negotiations between the United Auto Workers (UAW) union and the automaker broke down over the weekend. This is the first nationwide strike against GM since 2007, when the automaker was trying to reduce its pension and healthcare burden as part of an effort to stave off bankruptcy.

Cadillac commits to the manual transmission

The motoring world is moving away from manual transmissions, but Cadillac has committed to keeping three-pedal performance cars alive. Having launched the warmed-over CT4-V and CT5-V, vehicles similar in approach to AMG 43 or BMW M Performance models, Cadillac confirmed there are proper M and AMG rivals in the works – and they'll have manual variants.

2020 Cadillac XT6 unveiled

The new Cadillac XT6 crossover has been unveiled ahead of its in-the-flesh debut at the 2019 Detroit motor show. Design-wise the new seven-seat SUV has front and rear ends largely inspired by the 2016 Escala concept, although it misses out on that vehicle's slinky proportions and silhouette.

Cadillac CT6 PHEV canned in North America

Cadillac has pulled the plug on its flagship CT6 plug-in hybrid, having debuted the car at the 2015 Shanghai motor show. Speaking with GM Authority, the company said it would focus on "the launch of the comprehensive 2019 mid-cycle and the first-ever V-Series variant of the top-of-range sedan" for 2019.
