Hyundai Tucson 48V Hybrid, diesel plug-in hybrid concepts shown in Geneva

Two electrified concepts, the Hyundai Tucson 48V Hybrid and Hyundai Tucson diesel plug-in hybrid, were displayed at the Korean company's 2015 Geneva motor show stand. The Hyundai Tuscon 48V Hybrid concept (above and below) features a mild-hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 100kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual transmission.

New-generation Smart a no-go for Australia

Hot on the heels of Mercedes Benz Australia confirming that it was keen to make the Smart business model work in Australia, representatives have been forced to admit that the new version won’t be available in Australia for the foreseeable. The German manufacturer’s Australian arm has been forced to accept that the business case, largely based on pricing, simply can’t work for the local market where competition is fierce in the compact car segment. Italdesign GEA imagines itself as an autonomous luxury sedan

With the Italdesign GEA, the famous Italian design house has taken a stab at what a luxury autonomous sedan may look like and contain. Riding on massive 26-inch alloy wheels, and measuring 5.37 metres long, 1.98m wide, 1.46m tall and sitting on a 3.33m wheelbase, the GEA promises its four occupants plenty of space.

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe "will sell well in Australia", company claims

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will land locally with a model spread across numerous grades in the latter part of this year, and German maker says it "will sell well". Mercedes-Benz Australia senior manager of public relations, product and corporate affairs, David McCarthy, was unusually reticent to name the GLE Coupe’s competition, despite it obviously being a direct rival for the BMW X6.

Nissan Sway compact hatch concept unveiled in full

After teaser photos and videos prior to the Geneva motor show, the Nissan Sway concept car has finally been revealed in full. Said to be inspired by the iDX concept cars, the Sway employs many of the same visual cues that are present on the much larger Murano SUV and American Maxima sedan. These include the "V-motion" grille, and character and window lines that dramatically rise and fall.
