2018 Volkswagen Arteon previewed: Late 2017 launch for CC successor

Just days after production of the sleek CC four-door coupe came to an end, its replacement, the 2018 Volkswagen Arteon, has been confirmed. The Arteon name is said to be a portmanteau of the words 'art' (which "describes the saloon's lines") and 'eon' (identifying this car "as a premium model"). The word eon also represents "an immeasurably or indefinitely long period of time", which is about how long the Arteon's predecessor had occupied the stage.

Asked what the company's expectations are of the new CX-5, Mazda Australia boss, Martin Benders, told the Australian media attending the Los Angeles motor show that he sees largely “more of the same” in regards to maintaining market share and the models appeal.
