New Toyota HiLux back on! Updated model due in late August

The mid-life facelift for the Toyota HiLux is due in Australian showrooms in late August, dealers have been told. This is about a month later than the third week of July – the original arrival date – but earlier than expected after dealers asked for the new model to be delayed amid fears they were overstocked with the runout vehicle.

Gordon Murray Automotive T.50: the 980kg supercar

British supercar maker Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has this week confirmed its T.50 supercar will weigh in at only 980kg – fulfilling a target set for the car last year. Last year, Gordon Murray – head of GMA and designer of the iconic McLaren F1 – set an ambitious goal of a 980kg weight for the three-seater T.50, rendering it the lightest supercar ever produced. For context, this figure undercuts the average weight of 1436kg for modern supercars by almost a third, GMA claims.

BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo axed in Australia

BMW has unveiled its refreshed 6 Series Gran Turismo this week alongside the new-look 5 Series sedan and Touring wagon, but it will not be coming to Australia. News of the BMW 6 Series GT's departure from Australian showrooms comes just days after the company's UK division axed the liftback from its line-up. British website Autocar reported the decision was made to drop the model there due to low sales and the comparative success of its SUV models.
