Victoria introducing short-term rego payments in 2018

Victoria's Andrews Labor Government has announced it will offer short-term payment options for vehicle registration from 1 January 2018. With the annual fee now sitting at $800.80 for light vehicle registration, Victorians will soon have the choice of additional three-month or sixth-month options intended to help ease the cost-of-living pressures for millions of people.

Rolls-Royce SUV on Australian radar

Don’t expect to see too many Rolls-Royces on Australia’s dirt tracks when the British luxury marque’s first SUV is launched in 2019. That’s the view of the company’s Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Paul Harris who told CarAdvice that while the SUV, dubbed ‘Project Cullinan’ will be more than capable off-road, it’s unlikely too many will venture off the hot-mix.

Former Volkswagen and Audi engine boss arrested for role in Dieselgate - report

Wolfgang Hatz, former head of engine development at the Volkswagen Group, has reportedly been arrested as part of investigations into the Dieselgate emissions cheating scandal. According to a joint investigation by the Suddeutscher Zeitung newspaper, and the NDR and WDR television networks, Hatz was arrested earlier this week by prosecutors in Munich who are investigating the affair on behalf of the German government.

2019 BMW 7 Series facelift spied

The BMW 7 Series facelift has been spied undergoing testing on public roads in Germany. Although the latest 7 Series was only launched in 2015, all of its mainstream luxury competitors have been refreshed or renewed since then. The mid-cycle update, or life change impulse (LCI) if you speak fluent Bavarian, seems to include new headlamps, bumpers and grille, probably with a sportier design than today's car.

LDV D90 diesel coming to Australia

The all-new LDV D90 large SUV may not have launched yet, but CarAdvice can confirm the Chinese-made model is set to battle both the petrol and diesel parts of the market ... but not until 2019, it seems. Roger Zagorski, managing director of Ateco Automotive - the company that distributes LDV models in Australia - said at the unveiling of the 2018 LDV T60 ute that the company is on track to introduce the all-new LDV D90 SUV in November.
