Hyundai Tucson fire risk recall: your questions answered

The fire risk recall notice for the Hyundai Tucson in Australia – issued last week for examples built from November 2014 to November 2020 – has prompted the company to create a dedicated page on its website to answer the most commonly asked questions. More than 93,000 current generation Hyundai Tucson SUVs were recalled last week because there was a risk they could catch fire even when parked.

2021 Cupra Formentor VZ5 teased with Audi-sourced turbo five-cylinder engine

The 2021 Cupra Formentor VZ5 has been teased, ahead of its full debut on February 22. Spanish performance brand (and Volkswagen Group subsidiary) Cupra has confirmed it will reveal a flagship, limited-run version of its Formentor sports SUV later this month which, as its ‘5’ model name suggests, will be powered by a five-cylinder engine.

Federal government rules out electric vehicle subsidies for private buyers, industry reacts

The federal government has ruled out subsidising private electric vehicle (EV) purchases – however, it may incentivise businesses to invest in zero-emission fleets. The 40-page Future Fuels Strategy discussion paper – published today – outlines the Federal Government’s automotive policy platform, and suggests a focus will be placed on “enabling consumer choice, stimulating industry development, and reducing emissions in the road transport sector.”

2014-2020 Hyundai Tucson recalled: 93,000 vehicles affected for fire risk

Hyundai Australia has issued a recall of 93,572 examples of its Hyundai Tucson SUV (MY15-20) due to a potential fire risk with a circuit board, which forms part of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a short circuit in the electronics poses an increased risk of fire within the engine compartment – even when the engine is off.
