Tough new car tax revisions – which could see the duty on some models increase by up to £1285 (AU$2580) – have come into place for petrol and diesel new-car buyers in the UK.
As reported by AutoTrader and The Times, the revisions affect the Vehicle Excise Duty (for personal cars) and Benefit in Kind (for corporate vehicles) taxes that are paid at purchase of a new car. These amounts are based on the vehicle’s projected emissions in the first 12 months of ownership.

The future is drawing nearer for Porsche, with the company confirming in 2019 that its next-generation Macan SUV will be offered in at least two forms: conventional petrol and a new-generation, electric-powered model.

Reports out of Mazda near-on confirm that the new, all-electric MX-30 will debut in 2020 with a range extender in the form of a Rotary engine. Its timing is on track with a previous statement that Mazda made in 2018, which touted that this technology would launch in 2020.
New information comes to light as the brand recaps on its rich, 100-year history. In the celebratory announcement, Mazda spoke fondly of the Rotary engine, recognising it as an important part of their history.
