Audi Diesel Wins Le Mans

Audi have scored a history making win at this years 24 hr Le Mans race, beating all other competitors with... a Diesel car (The R10 TDI)! So much for all my "Diesel is better suited to a bus" talk. Audi has set out to prove to the world that Diesel doesn't compromise performance...

Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio (convertible)

Chrysler brought the PT Cruiser to Australia midway through 2000 and with a starting price of $33,000 and the wacky Gangster styling the PT Cruiser proved a definite head turner where ever it went. So 6 years has passed, we still don't have the PT Cruiser Turbo (from Chrysler's Street & Racing Development - SRT unit) but instead we have the new, and somewhat awkward Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio - Or as most people would call it, a Convertible PT Cruiser (or Cabriole)...

Update 25/10/2006 - We finally got to drive the car! Read the 2006 Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Road Test Update 11/07/2006 - Yes it has been finally confirmed that this little hot hatch is coming to Australia in August. I wrote a little bit about the new RalliArt tuned Mitsubishi Colt a few weeks back...

Honda Odyssey Recall

Honda Australia has announced a Odyssey Recall which include certain 1995 and 1996 Odyssey models. The safety recall is to fix the possibility of the ignition switch failing and causing the engine to stall. However Honda reports that there are no such cases reported in Australia and Honda will replace the ignition switch at no cost to the customer...

Peugeot 907 Supercar

A Peugeot supercar? What the? This is the new Peugeot 907 V12 Super car. The car will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK this weekend. Powered by a 6.0L V12 producing a magnificent 500 bhp, unfortunately, not only is this car not coming to Australia, it also isn't going to go into actual production...

2006 VolksWagen Jetta Fuel Consumption

I wrote an article about Diesel vs Hybrid cars a few days ago reinforcing my belief that Hybrid and not Diesel is the future of cars. However it seems like the new VolksWagen Jetta Diesel is out to prove me wrong. The new Jetta can manage almost 1200km of highway driving per tank. Given that the tank is only 55L in capacity, that is a truly amazing fact...

Porsche Panamera

Porsche used to have one solid philosophy, build sport cars that are not only fast but also take the whole sports car scene to a whole new level. The Porsche 911 is arguably the best Sports Car of all time. However due to their success with the Boxster and now the Porsche Cayenne, Porsche has realized that the rich and wealthy would rather have a 911 Porsche AND another day to day Porsche instead of buying from one of the other German or Italian manufacturers...

Aston Martin Rapide

This is just a beautiful car! Set for an actual launch date in 2007 (who knows when in 2007). The car is the same size a Mercedez Benz S-Class and a Maserati Quattroporte and the Porsche Panamera, (and most probably the same price). Nothing has been confirmed, but it is very possible that the car will be available to the rich and wealthy here in Australia...

Holden Efijy Reunion

Holden recently hosted an event to not only show off their very succesful 6.0L Supercharged 480kw Efijy concept car but also to show it close up to cars of the Early Model Holden Club of Victoria. Unfortunately for the club members, their cars are powered by a 2.2L engine that produces a rather unsubstantial 45kw of power :)...

What is understeer and oversteer?

Oversteer generally refers to a car's tendency to lose grip at the rear wheels, around corners or when pushed hard. This results in the back end sliding out. Oversteer can be found easily in older rear-wheel-drive cars (such as Falcons and Commodores) when pushed hard around a bend or in the wet. Understeer is the opposite of oversteer and is generally more related to the front wheels...

2007 BMW M3 Spy Shots

Yes! Finally the new 2007 BMW M3 is out and about being tested. The current BMW M3 is sold in Australia at a starting price of $140,000 so if you don't know yet, the M badge does to BMW cars what AMG does to Mercedes cars - fast & expensive. There is no official news as to when we will see the car down under but I would expect it in showrooms towards the end of 2007...

Holden Barina 2006 Poor Safety Slows Sales

It was only a month ago I had a laugh about the Safety Rating of the Holden Barina and encouraged no one to even consider it as a car (given that it is based on the miserable Daewoo Kalos). Now it seems like Holden has had enough beating from the public about this issue and are looking at other options for their Korean made Barina...

Subaru Safe & Reliable

You might or might not have noticed that I am a Subaru fan boy. I have dropped little hints here and there in support of Subaru mainly due to the fact that a WRX will be in my garage before the end of the year (don't worry you will hear all about my adventures in finding one) but no matter how hard I try, no one seems to bad mouth Subarus! Its always "Oh its soo reliable" or "its been so good" (please do tell me otherwise if you have had bad experiences)...

BMW Z4 M Coupe Australia

xThe BMW Z4 has always been the sort of car that turns a lot heads as it goes around. The owners know it, thats why they bought it! However whenever it came up next a hotted up Jap car (or even your stock Impreza WRX - Lancer Evo - Mazda 6 MPS) it always failed to match its looks. This is all until the Z4 M Coupe comes out in Australia later in the year...
