2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS review

It's been a while coming, but the Skoda Kodiaq RS oiler performance SUV has finally hit Aussie roads. Can seven seats and track friendliness live hand in hand, day to day?

The car names you've probably been mispronouncing this whole time

Fancy yourself a car enthusiast? While being an enthusiastic car owner and a good driver are both part of your overall street cred, a lot of it comes down to being able to talk the torque. And where many of us can come undone when showing off our automotive prowess is butchering the pronunciation of brand or model names as badly as Kim from Kath & Kim used to pronounce 'chardonnay' (she said 'kar-don-aye', for the record)...

2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS review: Australian first drive

The 2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS is the fastest seven-seat SUV around the Nürburgring, which isn't really that relevant for the family commute. Its blend of practicality and value for money certainly is, though; and Trent Nikolic goes for a drive on the track to show you why.

2020 Peugeot 508 GT v Skoda Superb 162TSI comparison

This pair offers European style and sensibility by the bootload, but very different designs make for curious competitors.

2019 Honda Civic RS v Skoda Octavia Sport sedan comparison

The small-sedan segment does sometimes get overlooked as a fertile patch for mixing practical, enjoyable and affordable motoring for a diverse cross-section of buyers, even modestly sized families. Around $22K gets you into the buck-banging basement with Honda’s Civic and Skoda’s Octavia, and both nameplates top out in the $52K and $46K mark, respectively, for high-performance driver’s versions (albeit a hatchback for the Civic)...

2019 Kia Rio GT-Line v Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo comparison

They both have three-cylinder engines, and they're both sportier than the wider range. There are plenty of similarities between the Fabia and Rio – how do they stack up side-by-side?

2019 Skoda Kodiaq 132 TSI (4x4) review

I had purchased my MY19 Skoda Kodiaq about three months ago, and because it has been three months, I feel I have enough experience to talk about the car. If you are looking for 7-seater SUV, the Kodiaq must be part of your shortlist. Back when I was searching for a car, the Kia Sorento, Mitsubushi Outlander, Mazda CX-9 and Skoda Kodiaq were on my basket...

2017 Skoda Fabia 66TSI review

Our manual cars, a green 2012 Mazda 2 Neo and red 2016 Toyota 86 GTS, were written off last year due to an extreme weather event. The Kia Carnival was the sole survivor. I spent some weeks browsing the used car market with no specific replacement car in mind. It just needed to be a manual so that our kids could learn in it to get manual licence...

2016 Skoda Octavia 110 TSI Ambition review

I purchased a one year old 2016 Skoda Octavia Ambition 110TSi manual with 11,000km on the clock for a ridiculous $18,999 driveaway. It is a good car but not a great car. The good is the technology, the ride quality and the economy, while the not-so-good is the slight shudder from the clutch on take off (at lights and especially hill starts)...

2016 Skoda Rapid Spaceback 92 TSI review

I am a part-time Uber driver and my 1.9-litre TDI Octavia was approaching Uber's 10-year limit, so I was looking for a budget alternative. I figured on buying a Kia Cerato base model with auto and touchscreen as a replacement, as it was under the $20,000 tax write-off amount, and had a 7-year warranty...
