Around the tracks: Till death do us part – a Morgan owner prepares to be buried in his car

Plus, do you happen to like the smell of fuel? Ford has the answer.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. Till death do us part... sort of.

The Morgan purchased by Richard Hammond in 2008 and later sold has a brand-new role: a coffin. The owner of the vehicle says he plans to be buried in this car when the time comes.

The wealthy businessman already has a plan in mind, with the car set to be being pushed into a 20-foot (6.1m) container, and placed on jack stands (because he doesn't want the tyres to go flat). The container is to be welded in the air so it's tight – all that's left is to dig away and place a concrete slab on top.

The price, you ask? The transformation will cost around AU$140,000.

2. The Mustang Mach-Eau comes with its very own fragrance.

Ford's research has revealed that almost 70 per cent of people making the conversion from petrol to electric miss the smell of petrol. The Blue Oval's solution? A fragrance that's a nod to that exact scent.

Ford revealed the new fragrance alongside the European debut of the Mustang Mach-E GT electric performance SUV at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed "to usher these drivers into the future of driving through their sense of smell."

The brand couldn't obviously allow the fragrance to smell just like fuel, so it combines “smoky accords, aspects of rubber, and even an ‘animal’ element to give a nod to the Mustang heritage.”

3. Ensuring your child is safe in an above-average child seat.

Japanese company, Bride, has branched out from its usual specialty of making sports and racing seats for cars. The organisation has now revealed its first super-stylish baby seat.

This one-of-a-kind uses a luxurious black leather-like material for the main body cover, joined by a support pillow with the "BRIDE" logo. It also includes a one-touch rotation button on the side of the seat.

The funky child seat is being released for around AU$800.

4. Mazda owners... don't forget to pick up your branded shoes on your next service visit.

Mazda has collaborated with Japanese sportswear company Mizuno to launch a pair of driving shoes. The pair of sneakers claim to carry Mazda's 'Kodo Soul of Motion' – in other words, simple styling inspired by the brand's vehicles.

According to the press release, this creation aims to provide "a light, stable, yet comfortable pedal operation." The shoes are said to be just the beginning of a range of lifestyle items from Mazda.

Mazda hosted a YouTube live-stream for the launch of the driving shoes. They are expected to cost around AU$500.

5. There was more action off the track than on at this Stadium Supertrucks event

There was fireworks at the Stadium Supertruck event in Mid-Ohio this week. A fight broke out just as the race ended, driver Bill Hynes accusing Bo LeMastus (yes, that's a real name – Ed) of racing unfairly and dangerously (bottom of story).

After words were exchanged, proceedings escalated quickly, with a steering wheel being thrown and a helmet destroyed. Thankfully, LeMastus took to Facebook to alert fans that he and Hynes buried the hatchet, saying that any further action between them would take place on the track.
