2022 Subaru Forester price and specs: Price rises and added safety for updated model
The Subaru Forester has come in for a mid-life facelift, with added safety on the most affordable models as prices rise by between $700 and $950 across the range.
The 2022 Subaru Forester has received a mid-life update, highlighted by a new nose, some extra tech and prices rises across the range.
There are still seven models in the revised Subaru Forester line-up – including two hybrid variants – which now starts from $35,990 plus on-road costs, an increase of $800.
Key changes include lane-keeping technology across the range – as part of an upgraded “EyeSight” package – and revised suspension tuning for a a smoother ride and, Subaru says, more responsive steering.
Some models of the Subaru SUV also gain new wheel designs and rear bumper garnishes.
All variants excluding the base model now have “gesture-controlled temperature adjustment for the air-conditioning”.
Subaru says the new feature enables drivers to adjust the cabin temperature via a simple hand gesture, by using the driver-facing camera that is also used to monitor fatigue or driver distraction.
All Subaru Forester models sold in Australia come with a full suite of advanced safety tech including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-zone warning, rear cross-traffic alert and a rear-view camera.
Despite the “EyeSight” system’s stereo camera arrangement, Subaru still does not yet offer speed-sign recognition – although it does alert distracted drivers if the car ahead has moved off in traffic.
Front and rear parking sensors are still not a factory-fitted accessory on any model grade of the Subaru Forester – even though such convenience items are standard on leading rivals.
All variants of the new Subaru Forester range – except the base model – come with rear autonomous emergency braking when obstacles are detected.
Inside, an 8.0-inch touchscreen is now standard across the range. Previously, Forester 2.5i, 2.5i-L and Hybrid L came with 6.5-inch touchscreens.
Under the bonnet, the use of aluminium engine mount brackets is claimed to reduce vibrations and noise.
The 2022 Subaru Forester range is due in Australian showrooms in the coming months, pending any unforeseen delays.
