Mr Paterson – who currently serves as the brand’s Director of Marketing in Canada – will commence his new role from Nissan's Melbourne head office on 1 July 2021.
Outgoing Managing Director Stephen Lester took the reins in September 2017. Under his guidance, the marque maintained steady sales and a consistent market share of between four and five per cent in Australia.
“His leadership has contributed to the success of Nissan Australia and New Zealand and we thank him for his contributions,” an official statement from the manufacturer said.
As of May 2021, VFACTS industry data showed Nissan to be the seventh largest manufacturer by volume in Australia. In that month, the brand reported 4307 vehicles as sold.
Nissan offers ten models Down Under, with the X-Trail SUV and Navara ute comprising approximately 60 per cent of total sales.
